I’m not sure how to describe 2017, it’s often easier to get the picture many years after an event. Thought, it seems there was a tendency towards more daring, bold, extravagant look than before. And, on the other hand, a direction pointing the other way, simpler than ever. I’m working on several furniture projects and more electronics. Besides that I try to do these “in-between” projects I love so much; the ones without agenda and without collaboration with a company. This freedom is crucial to me, to think without thinking in a way.

And, on the other hand, a direction pointing the other way, simpler than ever. The design world is often in conflict, getting more and more fashionorientated (fast and shouting) and dealing with issues like waste, sustainability, new clever materials etc. 2017 has been a very busy year for me; somehow it turned out to be a year where many of the projects we’ve been working on for many years was launched. That’s the way it is sometimes, a cluster of projects: The LUV project I did with Duravit was introduced after almost three years development, Gloster outdoor furniture, M3 speaker for B&O Play. I also curated an exhibition in Japan at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, about Danish and Japanese crafts and design. And then came the Designer of the Year award, where I got the chance to highlight the last years design I’ve done.
