Building processes will move towards and become more streamlined and product-based with prefabrication coming to the fore. BIM drawing, lends itself to prefabrication and the need for accuracy in building to achieve the energy savings we must achieve, not to mention the savings in time on site. We hope to explore this further and use prefabrication in new houses we are developing. We want to show that the joy and detail of good design can be retained within the prefabrication process.
2017 was our first year in our new office, which we built ourselves exploring ways of building. At the new office we put into practice not only our design ideas and the careful detailing we are known for, but also our ambition to make a healthy workplace where people enjoy coming to work. We designed a stand up sit down desk, 12 of which are arranged together in a single long table. This table then doubles up as a banqueting table for big events. We also have MVHR heating and ventilating and solar PV panels which make for great air quality and low energy use. We have a large meeting space with magnetic paint on a long wall so that we can pin up and review the projects as a team. In this space, we also have lectures and presentations to keep us up to date with products legislation and technology and we all eat lunch together around a long table here. We have a garden terrace for summer lunches and a pond with beautifully coloured Koi Carp.
