World Architecture Festival 2018 | Prominent features of the project
Solar panels above the highway offer an alternative for solar panel fields that take over valuable land in densely populated areas. At the end of 2018, NUON / Vattenfall adopted the concept that was developed already in 2015 and became the principal client. Except for the double use of the land that infrastructure takes up in general, the concept offers a substantial noise reduction (-18dB) to its surroundings and shows how sustainability can be beautiful as well. The first execution is planned above the A6 highway in Almere, at the future International Horticultural Expo ‘Floriade’.
