future of offices and working culture
This year I made a presentation about smart offices in Guangzhou. The phenomenon of home office is not something new, this has been practiced for several years. The brands that produce office furniture can now use some of the products they produced both in the office environment and home environment. Now we are talking about ‘co-working’; people do not have their own offices, they are in different locations, now they share an office space with different people from different parts of the world. They only use the office when needed. Our office is in our pockets with smartphones or with laptops in our bags. We’re not attached to single place anymore. But of course this is not something everyone can do, it is for some sectors. There will be more in the future, but some professions still require office space.
Besides the terms of co-working and co-office; there is m-office ‘always on the move’, b-office ‘working from our bed’, then n-office ‘the end of sitting’ which means there is no office environment, lastly l-office that means ‘love your office’; the most important thing is that you like the office you work in.
