efficiency in the office environment
Richard Sapper would say, “Form follows function.” This is not an easy subject, everything can change according to the working environment; colors, product design, materials used, dimensions… Of course, the common point has always been the functionality. The office environment is designed, products are selected, colors are decided by considering the client’s sector. Google offices are different than an insurance company office; both functional, but the way they work is different.
We can find a wide range of products in the office furniture market right now. To ensure efficiency, first of all, it is necessary to focus on the happiness of the people working in that environment, a person working in a positive environment is always more productive. In the end, we spend a very large part of our lives in offices and it is very important to work in a beautiful and positive environment to spend our time. A designer who designs office furniture has huge responsibilities, on the other hand, the vision of an interior architect who creates the project is of course very important.
future of offices and working culture
This year I made a presentation about smart offices in Guangzhou. The phenomenon of home office is not something new, this has been practiced for several years. The brands that produce office furniture can now use some of the products they produced both in the office environment and home environment. Now we are talking about ‘co-working’; people do not have their own offices, they are in different locations, now they share an office space with different people from different parts of the world. They only use the office when needed. Our office is in our pockets with smartphones or with laptops in our bags. We’re not attached to single place anymore. But of course this is not something everyone can do, it is for some sectors. There will be more in the future, but some professions still require office space.
Besides the terms of co-working and co-office; there is m-office ‘always on the move’, b-office ‘working from our bed’, then n-office ‘the end of sitting’ which means there is no office environment, lastly l-office that means ‘love your office’; the most important thing is that you like the office you work in.
