efficiency in the office environment
Each company has its own disciplines, working conditions, and principles. It is necessary to perceive them well, to analyze them and to create a particular working culture of each company. Because offices currently have become a living space where people spend much more time than their homes. For this reason, it is necessary to centralize people and their needs. If you are able to design a working environment that really responds to your corporation’s needs, then you get maximum efficiency in business. Providing the happiness of working environment is the main element for the productivity of an office.
Creating spaces to support communication and socialization is also very important in this context. Considering the working routine of today, you can not expect efficiency from an employee, sitting at the desk, waiting for the end of their shift. You should make that employee happy, if necessary, they should be free to choose their own workplace, or giving them a ground for active interaction. Offices have evolved from administrative and isolated production spaces, becoming centers where functional use, interaction and socialization are more prevalent. In an office where employees communicate and interact with each other, you will achieve faster progress as a result of a strong sense of belonging.
Apart from this conceptual aspect, benefiting from maximum daylight is as important as the conditions we have been talking about. Because in offices, daylight factor is directly related to the employee’s mood, perception levels, the state of sleep and concentration, and the productivity of people as a result of all these factors. At the same time daylight becomes a part of the design, saving a considerable amount of energy.
On the other hand, of course, it is necessary to make maximum use of the technology while considering these factors. In a world where information exchange is so easy and fast, and technology is at your fingertips, we are lucky enough to reach more accurate information. The main advantage of technology is efficiency. Companies must adapt to the changes and wisely apply this technology to their offices to be able to create an efficient workplace that will help them grow and develop.
If you are able to design a working environment that really responds to your corporation’s needs, then you get maximum efficiency in business. Providing the happiness of working environment is the main element for the productivity of an office.
future of offices and working culture
It is necessary to think about and plan new working areas for the generations of X, Y and ‘next generation’ Z from the perspective of generation C, in other words ‘Connected Age’ as the upper segment of X, Y, Z.
The population of this generation, which was born after the 2000s called the generation Z, has reached 20 million considering babies, children, and adolescents. This generation, which is born in a technologic environment, will begin to work two years later. The needs of each generation is quite different from each other, and within this new framework of understanding, many points such as confidentiality and privacy values, hierarchical relations, sharing of personal information has to be questioned. Designs have to be shaped by producing suitable solutions. In fact, the needs and qualities of future workplaces will again be shaped within the nature of generation Z.
In offices, daylight factor is directly related to the employee’s mood, perception levels, the state of sleep and concentration, and the productivity of people as a result of all these factors. At the same time daylight becomes a part of the design, saving a considerable amount of energy.
Besides generations X, Y, Z categorized by age; generation C, which is categorized by digital knowledge and skills, has also begun to become an important parameter in the formation of future office spaces. In this period when the concepts of interactivity and speed are more dominant, design decisions must be based on this line. To be able to access the information that people need easily from the right sources, to use that information properly and to be in a sharing environment, you need to design the offices that you created by following the innovations of technology.
‘Connected Age’ interconnects the contacts by mail, phone, and the internet and even the places; which makes it a broader term rather than involving only the age itself; it easily brings people and worlds together in a commonplace. In this age when one source is not sufficient anymore, almost every subject needs several specialists who can provide accurate information about that subject.
There was a session entitled ‘Offices of the Future’ that I attended in the past. There I said, “this is a cycle”, more or less. Currently, open offices are in the foreground, there are certain ‘private zones’, the hierarchy follows a more horizontal level; other employees can sit with the chief or the manager at the same desk. 5 – 10 years later, it can be back into the vertical one again by getting into a vicious cycle just as same apparel becomes popular back and forth in the fashion industry over time.
Because, 5 – 10 years later, maybe you can get so tired of communing with your supervisor, of watching your every step by being around you all the time. But it is the fact that once in a while, there was a thought that says “Ten years later there would be no office”. We saw that this is impossible. People pursue human relations by touching, seeing, and eye contact. The offices will continue to develop significantly in 10 to 15 years. The difference between working as a team and individual success is also an important factor here. Our working patterns will not change in the future. People will continue to communicate with each other.
